Argentina’s National Electoral Chamber (CNE) released the official results of the 2025 national legislative elections this Sunday (26), confirming a resounding victory for the ruling La Libertad Avanza party, which obtained 40.84% of the votes throughout Argentina. The main opposition force, Fuerza Patria, received only 25%. The information is from the C5N channel.
According to the CNE, the numbers reflect the count of 96% of the polling stations. The ruling party received broad support across the country, winning in 16 provinces, including Buenos Aires, where the ticket led by Diego Santilli (41.52%) beat the Peronists (40.84%)—a symbolic result, given that in the local elections held just over a month ago, the Peronists had won by 14 points.
The elections, which determine the composition of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, saw turnout below 70%, the lowest rate since the return of democracy in Argentina.
Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos highlighted that the election represented “strong national support for the government”. According to official results, La Libertad Avanza won in Buenos Aires, CABA, Chubut, Corrientes, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Jujuy, La Rioja, Mendoza, Misiones, Neuquén, Río Negro, Salta, San Luis, Santa Fe and Tierra del Fuego.
On the other hand, Fuerza Patria came first in Catamarca, Formosa, La Pampa, San Juan, Santa Cruz and Tucumán.
President Milei declared that “the era of a free and great Argentina” had begun
In a euphoric speech at the Libertador Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentine President Javier Milei celebrated the victory of the La Libertad Avanza (LLA) coalition in this Sunday’s legislative elections and anticipated a new phase of transformation in the country. This information was provided by the Argentine channel C5N .
Milei stated that, starting on December 10, when the new deputies and senators are sworn in, the government will promote ” the most reformist Congress in Argentine history .” According to him, the election results—with victories in 16 of the 24 districts—represent a ratification of his government program and the beginning of a “new era” for the country.
Today was a historic day. The Argentine people have decided to leave behind 100 years of decadence. The construction of a great Argentina begins,” the president declared, amid applause.
Milei seeks new base of political support
The speech had a celebratory tone, but also a pragmatic one. Milei invited the governors to participate in a roundtable discussion to discuss a new framework for political and economic agreements—a move interpreted as an attempt to ensure governability in the second half of her term.
“Beyond the usual misfits, there are dozens of deputies and senators for whom one plus one equals two. Now we can finally turn the foundations of the May Pact into law,” the president stated.
With the new results, Milei’s party increased from 37 to 101 deputies and from 6 to 20 senators, significantly expanding its parliamentary strength. According to the president, this majority will allow progress on structural reforms that had been blocked by Congress.
“Populism never again”
During the speech, Milei again criticized previous governments and praised the popular support she received.
“Argentines have said enough to populism. No more populism! Two out of three Argentines don’t want to go back to the past,” he declared. “Over the next two years, we must reaffirm the reformist path to consolidate Argentina’s growth and detachment.” The president also described the result as a confirmation of the “2023 mandate,” highlighting that his government had “avoided the fall of Argentina” by tackling what he described as a “minefield” left by previous administrations.
Libertarian bunker and presence of allies
At the Hotel Libertador, Milei was accompanied by central figures of his government and the libertarian coalition: his sister Karina Milei , president of the LLA and general secretary of the Presidency; the president of the Chamber, Martín Menem ; the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo ; the Minister of Infrastructure, Federico Sturzenegger ; the Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovello ; and the newly appointed chancellor, Pablo Quirno.
Also participating were Senator-elect Patricia Bullrich , advisor Santiago Caputo , spokesperson Manuel Adorni , and deputies Diego Santilli , Lilia Lemoine and Cristian Ritondo , among other leaders and supporters.
With the strengthening of her base in Congress, Milei is trying to consolidate her agenda of economic deregulation and reducing the role of the State, promising to accelerate reforms after the reinforcement obtained at the polls.
