The United Nations Security Council approved a resolution on Wednesday (11) condemning attacks carried out by Iran against US and Israeli targets in the Middle East. The text does not mention the military aggressions launched by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iranian territory. The information is from RT Brasil.
The resolution was presented by Bahrain and received approval from the body, while Russia and China chose to abstain from the vote. The military escalation in the region follows a joint operation conducted by Israel and the United States in the early hours of February 28. According to the governments involved, the action had the stated objective of “eliminating the threats” posed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The offensive resulted in the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as several high-ranking military officials in the country. On Monday (9), Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, son of the murdered Ayatollah, was chosen as the new supreme leader of the Persian country. After the attacks, the Iranian government launched, in response, several waves of ballistic missiles and drones against Israel and also against US military bases located in Middle Eastern countries.
