The United States Department of State has issued a global security alert advising U.S. citizens abroad to exercise increased caution.

The alert is prompted by the conflict between Israel and Iran, which has resulted in travel disruptions and the temporary closure of airspace throughout the Middle East. In addition to being posted on the State Department website, the alert can also be found on the websites of U.S. embassies worldwide.

“There is potential for demonstrations against U.S. citizens and interests abroad. The State Department recommends that U.S. citizens around the world exercise increased caution,” says the global security alert.

The official U.S. government statement does not refer to the U.S. airstrikes on three nuclear facilities in the Persian country: Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan, last Saturday (21). These airstrikes have further heightened tensions in the region and could lead to retaliatory actions.
