For the first time ever, Brazil has hit the level of 250 megawatts of installed capacity in micro- and mini-generation solar photovoltaic systems, according to a study published by Absolar, the organisation that represents this sector in the country. These results take into account the distribution of solar power to residential, commercial and industrial consumers, in buildings and rural areas.
According to data released by Absolar, Brazil has 27,800 solar photovoltaic systems connected to the grid all over the country. This represents over R$ 1.9 billion in investments over the past six years.
This type of power generation converts solar radiation into energy, and it is a renewable and more sustainable way of generating electricity. According to the mapping developed by Absolar, most installed systems are in households, followed by trade and service providers, and, to a lesser extent, rural, industrial and public consumers, among others.
