The Second International Choro Festival will be presented this year by the Brazilian Music Foundation (http://bmf-usa.org) in New York on November 5th and 7th.

The event will start on November 5th at 7:30 pm, at the Lang Hall – Hunter College (695 Park Ave – 68th Street) and will feature a total of 18 musicians and 7 presentations.

On November 7th, at 7:30 pm will be held directly from Florida, a live broadcast for the Kaufman Music School (129 West 67th Street – NYC) of a presentation from the Jacaré Choro group. The transmission, a partnership between BMF and the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida, can also be watched via streaming at the Brazilian Music Foundation Facebook page.

The festival will be part of the Latin Week. Since 2006, Pamar (Pan American Musical Art Research) presents the annual Latin American Culture Week with the aim of bringing to the general public the richness and diversity of the various Latin American cultures. This series of events, independently produced by participants, presents established and emerging artists in disciplines such as music, dance, visual arts, literature, theater, and film.

The BMF International Choro Festival was first exhibited in August 2015 and it was watched by a large audience of Brazilians, Americans and many other nationalities. Due to the success of the event, BMF founder and president, Madalena Sousa, decided to keep the festival annually.

One of the proposals of the Foundation is to promote Brazilian rhythms that are not well known in the United States and also give opportunity to Brazilians and Americans residents in the region to hear the traditional choro played in big theaters, not just in clubs. This is also a great chance for those who never heard Choro, to learn some of Brazilian culture through music.

The program event will be composed by great Brazilian musicians living in New York City, in the state of Florida and musicians of other nationalities, all of them, Choro lovers.
