Liniker wins three awards and is a highlight at the 2025 Grammy Awards

With three Grammys, singer Liniker was the most awarded Brazilian artist at the 26th edition of the Latin Grammy Awards 2025. The ceremony took place on Thursday night (13), in Las Vegas, United States.

The singer received awards in categories related to the Portuguese language. The album Caju was chosen as the best contemporary pop album and the best urban interpretation.

She was also honored for the song “Veludo Marrom ,” chosen as the best song in Portuguese. Upon receiving the award for best song, Liniker spoke about the difficulties of being a trans woman in Brazil.

I’ve been writing since I was 16. Writing and poetry have been my greatest form of existence. They are where I find myself and where I celebrate the many things I experience. Being a transvestite composer in a Brazil that kills us is extremely difficult. So, may our story be told and celebrated more and more, as it is today,” she stated.

Award winners

Among the Brazilian award winners are João Gomes, Mestrinho, and Jota.pê, with the album Dominguinho , chosen as best album of Roots Music in Portuguese, and the singer Luedji Luna – best album of Brazilian Popular Music/Afro-Portuguese Brazilian Music, with the work entitled Um Mar Pra Cada Um (A Sea for Everyone).

The group BaianaSystem was awarded in the category of best rock or alternative music album in Portuguese, with the work O Mundo Dá Voltas . Eli Soares was the winner in the Christian music category (also in Portuguese), with the album Memóri4s (Ao Vivo).

In the category of best Sertanejo music album, the winner was the duo Chitãozinho & Xororó , with the album José & Durval . In the samba/pagode category, the group Sorriso Maroto won the award with the album Sorriso Eu Gosto No Pagode Vol. 3 – Homenagem Ao Fundo De Quintal, recorded in London.

In the international category Best Latin Jazz/Jazz Album, two artists shared the award. One of them, the Brazilian mandolin player Hamilton de Holanda , with the trio work Live in NYC . The award was shared with the Cuban musician Chuco Valdés , with the album Cuba and Beyond.
