Business confidence in the Brazilian economy ended last year on a high note. In December, the Business Confidence Index (ICE), developed by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) reached 93.1 points on a scale ranging from 0 to 200, the sixth consecutive increase. The indicator is now at the highest level since April 2014.

In practice, the increased index indicates a greater possibility of investments in the country, with the consequent creation of jobs and income for Brazilians. It also reflects the measures taken by the Brazilian government to ensure the resumption of growth in the economy.

“2017 ends with improved perceptions about the current business scenario and the resumption of optimism,” said FGV statistics superintendent Aloisio Campelo Jr, who added that “this scenario suggests that business confidence should continue to advance in the coming months”.
